The Diffusion tab allows you to simulate the effects of light-shaping tools like silks, scrims, or frost on your light sources.
Accessing the Diffusion Menu

Select the Diffusion Tab: Click the Diffusion option in the main navigation menu on the left side of the application.
Adding a Diffusion Layer
A diffusion layer represents a physical material placed between your light and your subject. You can add multiple layers to stack effects.

- Add a New Layer: Click the button labeled + Add Diffusion Layer. A new box will appear on the screen to represent the first layer.
- Select Material: Inside the new layer box, click the dropdown menu (which likely says “Select Diffusion Material”).
- Choose Your Material: Scroll through the list and select the specific diffusion material you are simulating (e.g., 129 Heavy Frost, Opal Frost, Grid Cloth (1/4), 250 Half White, etc.).
Understanding the Calculated Light Loss
Once you select a material, FilmLight Pro provides immediate feedback:

- View Light Loss (EV): After choosing the material, the field labeled Light Loss (EV) will automatically display the estimated exposure loss (measured in Exposure Value stops) caused by that specific material.
Managing Layers (Adding and Removing)
You can stack diffusion materials or remove layers if they are no longer needed for the simulation.
- To Add More Layers: Click the + Add Diffusion Layer button again. A second box will appear, allowing you to select a second material and see the cumulative effect of both.
- To Delete a Layer: Locate the small trash can icon (🗑️) in the upper right corner of the layer box you wish to remove, and click it. This will instantly delete the layer and update the light loss calculation.
